Cherry Bomb is a fictional retrospective tour and book launch for the iconic 1970s band The Runaways. Cherry bomb engages the viewer with explosive typography that alludes to both the band’s fiery career and its blatant sexuality. Applying a 3-D effect to the photos creates a sense of movement and vivacity that emulates The Runaways’ energetic stage performance. It also serves as a metaphor for the internal conflict the women of the band faced: their fans saw them as mature Queens of Noise when in reality they were just young teenage women battling the rocky road of fame.
